Introduction
Circuit Cellar magazine had a contest to see who can build the coolest circuit from
a WIZnet W5100 IC. The contest is long over, but I'm still working on building a
circuit that uses whe W5100 to communicate. To make it easier for the folks who
are coming back to this page, I put the new entries on the top of the page, if you
want to read them in order, start at the bottom and wor you way up.
Programming, first steps
I've been working on creating a program for the Picaxe 18X to communicate
with the WIZnet module. It's slow going, for a couple of reasons. Here's the
explanation, and the source code.

Breadboarding the module
It's simple to wire up the WIZ810MJ when you use the NKC Electronics SPI adapter.
Here's how I did it.

My WizNET module arrives
I was surprised, nay, stunned when my WIZnet module arrived in the mail on December
5th. I wanted, of course, to run right up stairs and start playing with it, but
I made myself wait 'til the kids were working on their homework before I unwrapped
the package and started taking a look.

Overview of the W5100
This is a brief overview of the WIZnet W5100 module. It's just my interpretation
of the information from Circuit Cellar and the module datasheet. For the real deal,
see the WIZnet web site at www.wiznet.co.kr.

Entering the contest
I read about the Circuit Cellar contest on the Picaxe forum and immediately went
to the CC Web site to take a look. A brief look through the description of the WizNET
W5100 chip made me want to play with it, so I went ahead and entered the contest.
